FT Global Energy Leaders' Summit
Start Date: 18/09/2012
End Date: 19/09/2012
ZEP was proud to be an associate sponsor of the Financial Times' prestigious London-based energy conference on September 18 - 19.
ZEP Chairman Dr. Graeme Sweeney participated in a dedicated panel on CCS on September 19, accompanied by Graeme Miller, MD of 2Co Energy Limited and Sandra Locke, Assistant Deputy Minister, Electricity, Alternative Energy and CCS at the Alberta Department of Energy.
The panel tackled the issue of "Carbon Capture and Storage-
Fact or Fantasy?" and the entire session can be viewed in the footage below.
Dr. Sweeney re-affirmed the importance of making CCS demonstrations projects happen and that the CCS case remains compelling. Dr. Sweeney was asked which country in the EU would be the leading CCS player and he responded that he thought "the whole North Sea basin would be well positioned.”
He was also keen to stress the importance of getting a CCS project done in Poland, due to its coal-dependency; and the importance to engage stakeholders in Germany. CCS in
Germany may also be driven by focusing on industrial users,
Dr. Sweeney observed.
